There’s something deeply satisfying about lining your pantry shelves with jars you preserved yourself — garden-fresh green beans, golden corn, and tomatoes tucked away to enjoy long after the season ends.

In this hands-on canning class, you’ll learn the foundational skills needed to safely preserve food at home using traditional methods that have been passed down for generations. Whether you’ve never canned a single jar or you’re wanting to feel more confident in your process, this class will walk you through the essentials step-by-step in a welcoming, beginner-friendly way.

In this class, you’ll learn:

  • Basic canning equipment and what you actually need
  • Proper jar preparation, sterilizing, and safe handling
  • Water bath vs. pressure canning (and when to use each)
  • Safe processing times, sealing, and storage best practices
  • Common canning mistakes (and how to avoid them)
  • Tips for preserving seasonal produce like tomatoes, beans, and more

This workshop is perfect for anyone who loves the idea of a slower, simpler way of living — and wants the confidence to preserve the harvest in a safe and practical way.

What’s Included with Your Ticket:

  • Light refreshments for in-person attendees
  • Access to the recorded class (sent after the event)

Instructor Bio:

Hi there, my name is Angie Hargrove. I am a wife, mother to seven children, and a grandmother to five with one more on the way.  I am a follower of Christ, a Respiratory Therapist, and a firm believer that faith is meant to be lived out in real, everyday moments.

I was born in Mullens, West Virginia, and grew up with many challenges.  I became a mom at a young age and faced season of struggle that shaped who I am today.  Through those years, I learned the value of hard work, resourcefulness, and trusting God daily.  I learned to grow a garden, preserve the harvest, and cook meals that could feed a crowd-meals that were nourishing, comforting, delicious and affordable.

I love gardening, sourdough baking, canning vegetables, and spending time at the mountains or beach with my children and grandchildren.  I have a deep appreciation for the old ways of life and treasure the wisdom passed down from my grandmothers and the generations before them.

The most important things in my life are Jesus Christ and my family.  My greatest desire is for others to see Christ in me-in both the beautiful moments and the raw, imperfect ones-and to desire to know Him more through observation of my daily walk with Him.  I pray that by sharing these slower, simpler ways of living, others might be inspired to step away from the busyness of life, find contentment in the very moments they are in, and fully enjoy the goodness God created for us to see, smell, taste and cherish.

Please note: To ensure a great experience for everyone, this class requires a minimum number of participants. If we don’t reach that number the class may be rescheduled or canceled and all registrations will be fully refunded.
