Have you ever wanted to grow those big, beautiful dahlias you see in bouquets and flower stands? Join Tamra O’Brien of Love Farm Flowers for a hands-on, beginner-friendly class that will walk you through the entire life cycle of a dahlia — from planting your first tuber to harvesting armfuls of blooms and saving tubers for the next season.
This workshop will guide you step-by-step through the essentials of successful dahlia growing, including:
- How to plant healthy tubers
- When and where to plant for best results
- Soil preparation, spacing, and sunlight needs
- Watering, fertilizing, and seasonal care
- Pinching and supporting plants for stronger stems and more blooms
- When and how to cut dahlias for long-lasting bouquets
- How to divide and store tubers at the end of the season, or leave them in ground safely.
She’ll also share her personal favorites, the varieties she gets most excited about each season, and a few humble “well… that didn’t go as planned” stories from learning dahlias by doing.
Each participant will leave ready to start their own dahlia patch at home. Your class registration includes:
- (2) mystery dahlia tubers from Tamra’s personal collection
- A pair of snips for harvesting your blooms
- Printed growing tips and seasonal care guidance
Whether you’re brand new to gardening or looking to add a stunning focal flower to your landscape or cutting garden, this class will give you the confidence and know-how to grow dahlias from tuber to bloom.
